Sandy Pitkethly

Sandy has amassed a 20-plus-year marketing career.
During and after university Sandy worked in Promotions at BC Lottery, then developed Scratch & Win tickets, and finally helped spread the fun of BINGO around BC. In 1998 she discovered credit unions and helped Surrey Metro Savings (now Coast Capital Savings) with product marketing until 2003. After a few years of entrepreneurship working with oil and gas guys in the far North (huh?), Sandy joined Currency Marketing in 2007 and hasn’t looked back.
Sandy has a Bachelor of Arts degree (English, History, Psychology) supplemented with oodles of professional development and marketing-related courses. At Currency, Sandy has been the lead working with our credit union clients. Sandy loves our clients, and is secretly, or maybe blatantly, trying to turn them all into curling fans.
As Vice President, Marketing, Sandy leads our founding Young & Free program in Alberta, and is in charge of Currency’s overall account strategy and new business development.
Favorite books
I enjoy business biographies, fast moving action books, and soul-searching self-improvement stuff. I have never read a Stephen King book and I’m too chicken to start.
Favorite food
Food is a joy in life and I love trying new things: in the southern US, I eat greens and grits; in Russia, I eat stuffed doughy perogy-like things and drink tons of amazing coffee; in Italy, I eat EVERYTHING. Hence my extra 15 pounds.
Favorite TV
Like most of the world, I’m now a reality TV junkie. My faves are American Idol and The Amazing Race.
Awesome life experiences
I sat with super cool people at the Vancouver Olympics, like the Prime Minister, Wayne Gretzky, and European royalty.
My guy, Graham, and I once danced on stage at an Elton John Concert. "Saturday night’s alright for fighting…"
As a fan, I’ve been to an Olympic Games, a Commonwealth Games, US college football games, Grey Cups, the British Open, etc. I love going to sports events and they comprise most of my bucket list.
Actually, I way have too many awesome life experiences to list. Life is good.
Favorite past times
• Being a hockey and dance mom
• Trying to stay fit
• Traveling
• Enjoying a glass of wine with friends
Favorite brands
Oprah and Nike. I love the "live your best life message" in everything Oprah, as well as Nike's mission to get people to move their bodies for overall wellness. Not that I'm a fitness freak, just a "feel healthy physically and emotionally" freak.
